Exploring a Website
The schools website I explored was Union County Vocational - Technical Schools. Union County Vocational Technical Schools consists of 5 separate high schools. I enjoyed looking at the Academy for Allied Heath and Science (AAHS), because each teacher has their own separate website as well as a separate email address. This makes it easier for parents and students to get in contact with their teacher. The main site provides separate links to each academy. This website is effective because it also communicates to students by providing information for each separate marking period. For example the teacher Mrs. Mirabella provides the 2012-2013 schedule on her website. This is a useful tool, because students are able to see what they will be covering for the year. The only negative part about The Union County Vocational Technical Schools Website, is because it consists of 5 different high schools, I feel parents and students are more likely to get confused when browsing for things. They may find themselves clicking a lot before finding the information they were looking for in the beginning.

Hi Elyse, wow five High Schools within one district! The one which you chose to write about is neatly organized, too bad that the Academy for the Performing Arts does not have a website like that.
ReplyDeleteHi Elyse. I think you're right about the clicking part. When they abbreviate the schools in the tabs above on the main page, it's hard to tell what they are at first. You'd need to click on them before realizing that they are links to the five high schools. I also agree with the separate websites that each teacher has and the helpful information they have posted. The class requirements and expectations are all typed out for the students to read before school starts, which is great! Nice choice!
